Cat Ba island in HaLong Bay where we spent the night. we left our boat and trecked up mountainous paths at night and got this one section of the island where there was electricity and a few hotels & places to eat along this stretch of road.This is the view from our hotel room.

we were shrouded in mist & fog as our boat wove through these incredible limestone formations in the south china sea. once in a while, through the fog, we'd see a boat appear all of a sudden in front of us
|

the bay with these limestone formations jutting out of the sea was amazingly beautiful. vietnamese myth has it that halong bay was formed when a family of dragons descended to earth and spit out jewels & jade which turned into these islands.
