Bandarban is the hilly part of Bangladesh, very different from the rest of the country, which is mainly a network of river deltas. Part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts with dense jungles, the population is moslty tribal
|
|
Chuck as a foreigner had to sign in at army checkpoint to enter region. local tribals have kidnapped a few foreigners/prominent locals in past for ransom, they are seeking their own autonomous region.

when their little wheeled sled got to the bottom of the hill, they came running back up to meet us & they were very excited. their excitement was contagious

we stayed in a cabin above the main lodge/dining area. this is one of the many shots of the amazing view from the balcony of the lodge.

the road to the next town above was cut off by a mudslide. this is the rainy season and we saw many mudslides, and a couple houses that had been destroyed by one.
