the woman with the pink scarf around her head is smoking a pipe, while we were wandering around town, we asked how to say thank you. we got 3 different answers from 3 people we asked - each tribe speaks a different language

we saw a couple girls in the market with these swirls of white paste on their faces, they looked very ritualistic. when we asked what it was, they said it was an acne prevention treatment ;)

the next morning, after breakfast by the verandah. we stayed in an air-conditioned bamboo hut built into the hillside. this verandah juts out way over the hillside and when u look down the bottom is so far away

Bablu Bhai (standing behind Anika), manager of the resort, was kidnapped by tribal guerillas a few years ago & held for 3 months in the forest. but they treated him very nicely. guerillas are armed w/ American guns left behind in Vietnam
